SureStart Children’s Centres provide support and advice for parents/carers of children under five. There are 3,600 Children’s Centres in England and they provide:
-
professional advice about your child and family
-
the chance to learn about job opportunities
-
the chance to socialise with others
-
a safe, fun environment for you child to play and learn
Children’s Centres run many free weekly sessions for you to take you child along to such as ‘messy play’ and ‘bumps to babies’. They also run some courses which they may charge for.
Children’s Centres have links with health professionals such as Health Visitors and Speech and Language Therapists, who regularly drop into Children’s Centre sessions to offer advice to parents/carers.
