Training
All Communication and Interaction Specialist Teachers deliver training on Speech, Language and Communication as well as autistic spectrum issues. Often this is conjunction with Speech and Language Therapists.
Training can be given at whole school level, perhaps at an In-Service (INSET)
Training Day or a twilight staff meeting during term time.
Specialist Communication and Interaction teachers deliver the County Inclusion Training.
The Inclusion Training Booklet provides information on courses offered and is sent to all schools at the start of the school year.
Topics include:
- Social stories
- Elklan courses
- Social Use of Language
- Autistic Spectrum Disorders (Primary & Secondary)
- Talking Partners
Higher-level courses run in conjunction with the Faculty of Education are offered this year. These ‘4-day’ taught courses are delivered by a range of professionals in order to give a multi-disciplinary overview.
- Autistic Spectrum Conditions in Special Schools - Enhancing Knowledge and Developing Practice
- Asperger Syndrome in Mainstream settings
